I am Utkarsh Singh (b. 1999, Gwalior, and raised in Allahabad, now Prayagraj). I am a visual artist and photographer based in Bengaluru, India. My practice moves along photography, video, text, performance, and bookmaking. Working across analog-based image making, I combine real stories I encounter with elements of fiction, creating layered experiences that reflect the human condition while invoking broader historical and regional contexts. Through this interplay of media and perspectives, I explore how memory, identity, and place are shaped by both lived reality and constructed narrative, questioning the structures, systems, and place of the self in it.

I pursued a master's in photography design at the National Institute of Design and undertook a semester exchange at Hochschule Hannover, focusing on Visual Journalism and Documentary Photography. During this period, I developed a deep interest in cultural anthropology, migration, decoloniality, and dissent. I am currently working as a photographer for the Museum of Art and Photography.

My work has been recognized by the Indian Documentary Photo Collective Awards, Toto Funds the Arts for Short Film and Photography, the British University International Students Film Festival, Festival Angaelica, the Annual Design Show at the National Institute of Design, Auf den Spuren von (Visual Journalism Magazine), the Superioritas Award, CNNNews18, Seezeen Photo, Better Photography Magazine, and Asian Photography Magazine.
